The SUNY College at Brockport Summer Session Program at the University of Puerto Rico is a unique program for those interested in Puerto Rico's culture and the Spanish language.

This four-week program is designed to increase participants' ability to communicate in all aspects of the Spanish language as well as to provide them with an understanding of Puerto Rican history and cultural patterns. The program provides students with a hands-on experience of the Spanish Language and Puerto Rican culture, past and present. Students will learn through traditional classroom instruction, weekly field trips, workshops and cultural activities, with the option of participating in additional field trips and social and cultural events.

The University of Puerto Rico was founded in 1903 as a public institution of higher education. Since its foundation, the university has responded to the social, cultural, and professional needs of Puerto Ricans. The Rio Piedras campus is a place of intense cultural activity, located on a 289-acre area north of San Juan, the capital of the island. The campus is the largest in the university system, not only by population but also by its academic offerings. It is within walking distance of downtown Rio Piedras and easily accessible by public transportation.
