The University of Western Sydney (UWS) is a young, energetic and rapidly growing urban university spread over six campuses in Greater Western Sydney, a region of great opportunity, diversity, challenge and growth with each campus located within 30 to 90 minutes travelling time to Sydney's Central Business District (CBD). UWS is a smart modern institution with a reputation for academic excellence. The university is committed to providing courses for today's rapidly changing world and offers lectures that are innovative and highly qualified. UWS takes pride in the performance of its students and believes the ultimate measure of its success is the quality of its graduates.

As one of the largest universities in Australia, UWS has a community rich in cultural diversity, with each of its six campuses offering a distinctive character, small class sizes and excellent access to academic staff. Here is a quick look at each campus:

Bankstown Campus: The Bankstown Campus is located in the southwestern Sydney suburb of Milperra. It is a warm, friendly environment with modern spacious buildings and landscaped gardens with a strong Australian native theme. Bankstown is home to Sydney's second-largest airport, Bankstown Square - a large shopping centre, a major hospital, and a wide range of restaurants that serve food from all parts of the world. On-campus accommodation is available on the Bankstown campus but places are limited.

Blacktown Campus: The Blacktown campus is about one hour from the Sydney Central Business District and close to the city of Blacktown. To meet the needs of its young community, the City of Blacktown provides an array of leisure and tourism attractions including Blacktown Arts Centre, Feather dale Wildlife Park (where you can feed the kangaroos or have your picture taken with a Koala), Rouse Hill Regional Park, and the Blacktown Olympic Park at Aquiline Reserve. On-campus accommodation is available on the Blacktown campus.

Campbelltown Campus: The Campbelltown Campus is located about one hour by road or rail from Sydney's Central Business District. The city of Campbelltown is an energetic, lively city offering a unique combination of city opportunities with a country atmosphere. On-campus accommodation is available on the Campbelltown Campus.

Hawkesbury Campus: The Hawkesbury region is located at the foot of the Blue Mountains and, despite its close proximity to Sydney, it is still very much a rural community, with market gardens, orchards and rich pasture covering much of the landscape. The campus has many heritage buildings, a working farm and extensive orchards and vineyards, which reflect the campuses background as an Agricultural College. On-campus accommodation is available on the Hawkesbury Campus.

Parramatta Campus: Parramatta City is rich in history, a place of elegant parks, a vibrant multicultural community a shopper's paradise, and a centre for sport, dining and entertainment. The campus is a heritage site and contains some of the oldest buildings in New South Wales. It has been beautifully restored into an attractive, friendly learning environment. On-campus accommodation is not available on the Parramatta Campus. Students requesting on campus accommodation are normally housed on the Blacktown campus.

Penrith Campus: Penrith is a city on the western fringe of the Sydney metropolitan area. The city houses many regional government offices and cultural centres and acts as a regional shopping area for the Penrith region and the Blue Mountains. The Penrith campus is located about one hour from Sydney's CBD by rail or car. The campus occupies two large sites in the adjacent western Sydney suburbs of Kingswood and Werrington. A shuttle service linking the two campuses and Kingswood railway station runs throughout the day. On and off campus accommodation is available at the Kingswood site.

If you venture outside the city of Sydney and head west, you will find the suburbs of Greater Western Sydney and the home of UWS. The GWS region stretches from Parramatta (just 30 minutes from the city of Sydney) to the foot of the Blue Mountains. One in ten Australians live in this region - a region that includes farmland, industrial zones, commercial areas, vast recreational areas, companies involved in manufacturing, tourism, information technology, business services and retail.
