University of St. Andrews

Is This the Right Program for You?

The University of St. Andrews, founded in 1410, is the oldest university in Scotland and the third oldest in the UK. Over the past six centuries, St. Andrews has upheld a Scottish tradition of academic excellence, attracting scholars of international repute and students from all over the world. Today, St. Andrews continues to offer the latest in teaching and research all within a mediaeval setting. St. Andrews is not a campus university, rather, it is closely integrated within the town and academic buildings and the student housing is interspersed among shops, pubs, and residential houses.

Located about 45 miles to the north of Edinburgh, St. Andrew is best known as the birthplace of golf, and the seaside town is distinguished by two institutions, the Royal Ancient Golf Club and the University of St. Andrews. Today the town is a living museum of ancient castle and cathedral walls, centuries old stone houses and golf's most famous golf course.
