  Is This the Right Program for You?

Courses:

Teaching takes place in the mornings, Monday-Friday; afternoons are free for research, reading and preparation and optional excursions. Students choose two courses to study during the five-week program and are awarded credit on successful completion.

Assessment will be by project or essay work, with the final (main) assessment being due for submission electronically by Friday, 28 August.

Literature:
St. Andrews has a long and illustrious history of teaching literature in English, and the School of English is consistently rated as one of the top English departments in Britain. Seven permanent faculty members are well known creative writers: John Burnside, Robert Crawford, Meaghan Delahunt, Douglas Dunn, Kathleen Jamie, A L Kennedy, and Don Paterson.

Others publish widely in their respective fields, and the School is particularly strong in Medieval Language and Literature, Creative Writing, Feminism, Scottish Literature, and in the Renaissance, Romantic, and Modern periods.

The Literature module will offer the change to study a range of literary texts from different genrese and periods with world-renowned scholars.

Scotland in Europe:
St. Andrews has a unique place in Scottish history. It has been a seat of learning and burial place of kings since the eighth century and is the perfect place to trace the relationship between Scotland and its European neighbors through the centuries.

St. Andrews also has one of the largest concentrations of historians in the UK on its staff (more than 50) and is also home to two interdisciplinary institutes - for Medieval Studies and Reformation Studies - offering an unrivalled brreadth of perspective.

The Scotland in Europe module will offer students the opportunity to undertake study with world class experts in a location that still resonates with the battles and conflicts of the past thousand years.
