Housing:

As with most Dutch universities, students in Leiden live in the town rather than on campus. Participants in Brockport's Program at Leiden University (The Netherlands) will be housed in a variety of buildings in town managed by Leiden University. Students generally have their own bed and sitting rooms, but share sanitary and kitchen facilities with others. The office has a number of rooms reserved especially for international students, and furnished rooms are also available. The University will, upon admission into a program, assist in finding suitable accommodation for all Brockport Leiden University (The Netherlands) Program participants who complete and return housing preference forms to the Office of International Education at Brockport, in a timely manner.

Orientation:

Prior to the first and second semesters, an introduction program will be organized for newcomers. This two-day program consists of a general introduction to the University, the City of Leiden, and the student societies. Leiden students will act as guides and introduce their international colleagues to sports, study and social events.

Prior to the start of each semester, the International Office at Leiden University organizes an orientation program. This 2-day program consists of a general introduction to the university, the city of Leiden, and the student societies. Leiden students act as guides and introduce their international guests to study, sporting and social events. Throughout the semester, students are encouraged to participate in a variety of field trips designed to acquaint students with the unique society of the Netherlands. Typical locations include The Hague (site of Dutch Parliament & International Court of Justice), Deltawerken (the largest water management project in Holland), and museums in Amsterdam, Utrecht and Rotterdam.
