Curriculum:
Participants in the Brockport Performing Arts in Jamaica Program will normally be enrolled in the second-year program at the appropriate school [Dance, Drama or Art] of the College. Each participant's course of study will be selected with advisement by the staff at the College.
A typical program of study will usually include, in addition to performance, theory and technique courses, courses in the cross-disciplinary study of the traditional Caribbean folk-experiences of each artistic medium.
The central focus of the program and its curriculum is to enable the participants to acquire an awareness of the richness and variety of the culture in which they are living, and to learn about and to practice the artistic forms which are unique to that culture.
Participants must arrive in Kingston at least a few days prior to the beginning of classes. At the beginning of the semester, each participant will select the courses s/he will enroll in during that semester. As a rule, participants will enroll in a 15 credit second-year program in the appropriate school.
