Sharing Your Experiences - STARS Program
As a returning Study Abroad participant, you now know that you can cope with a wide range of new and sometimes unanticipated demands. Your life as a student in a different country, immersed in a different culture, has internationalized you, and your world-view will never be the same as it was before you left! But now that you are back in a familiar environment you may be wondering how to take advantage of your international experience, and how to harness all that energy. The good news is there are a number of ways to do that no matter where you are.
If you are returning to Brockport, you may have a chance to become involved in the STARS program, in which students that have studied overseas share their experiences with those who are considering going abroad, by making presentations in classrooms or at Study Abroad events on campus.
If you are not a Brockport student, you can contact the Office of International Education to inquire about becoming a contact for prospective participants at your home university thinking about studying abroad through Brockport.
Getting involved on your campus will show prospective employers or graduate schools that your overseas study was not an island in your educational life, but that you are incorporating it into your academic career.
For more information on any of these opportunities, please call the International Education Office at Brockport 1-800-298-SUNY or e-mail us at: overseas@brockport.edu
