If, subsequent to that acceptance, a participant elects to withdraw from that program, he/she can still expect to be billed for all or some of the costs of that participation, depending on the punctuality of the notice of that withdrawal.
A. Payments that are Always Non-Refundable:
Except in the event of the cancellation of the program by the College at Brockport, the following payments are always non-refundable regardless of the punctuality of notification:
- The Program Acceptance Fee
- Any Housing Deposit
B. Sometimes Partially Refundable:
The following payments are usually (but not always) at least partially refundable if notification of withdrawal from the program is received by the Office of International Education at Brockport at least thirty days prior to the official starting date of an Overseas Academic Program:
- Tuition
- The Program Cost
- The Mandatory Health Insurance Premium
The amount of any refund depends upon the punctuality of the notification (in writing) of a participant's withdrawal from a program and the ability of the Office of International Education to recover the payments it has already made on the student's behalf.
For those programs in which the cost of housing is part of the Program Fee or is contained within the Program Fee [specifically, most short - term (i.e. summer and winter-inter-term programs of less than five weeks duration) and the Brockport Oxford and Cambridge programs] a participant's withdrawal with fewer than 30 days notice will result in no refund.
C. NO REFUNDS After The Start Of A Program:
AFTER THE START OF THE OVERSEAS ACADEMIC PROGRAM, NO REFUNDS OF ANY KIND WILL BE MADE.
D. Refund Schedule:
The following schedule of refunds applies to all Brockport Overseas academic programs:
Punctuality of Notification Size / Type of Refund
31 or more days before start: Refund of all payments but acceptance and housing deposits
1 to 30 days prior to start of program: Substantially reduced refund
After starting date: No Refund
Participants should remember that these policies regarding refunds might be different from their home campus's policies on refunds and withdrawals. For example, normally, a withdrawal from an Overseas Academic Program for an illness or other health-related matter does NOT result in a refund as it might in a home campus-based program. However, each case is treated individually, depending on the individual circumstances. Refer to the Policies and Procedures Handbook. Click here to download the Policies and Procedures Handbook (PDF).
