Overview
The goal of Brockport's Office of International Education is to offer well designed and wisely administered Overseas Academic Programs to highly motivated students. In the achievement of that goal, the Office of International Education is guided by the Principles for International Educational Exchange NAFSA: Association of International Educators and the Policy Statement on Study Abroad Programs of the US Commission on Higher Education.
The following are Features to Brockport's overseas programs:
Each Brockport Overseas Academic Program has specific and clearly articulated educational objectives.
The nature and scope of each Brockport Overseas Academic Program is described accurately and honestly and in sufficient detail to allow prospective participants to make informed decisions concerning participation.
Each Overseas Academic Program includes an orientation which assists participants in making appropriate personal, social and academic adjustments.
Each Brockport Overseas Academic Program encourages the effective use of the resources of its host environment.
The academic rigor of each Brockport Overseas Academic Program is at least equal to that of the participant's home campus.
Brockport Overseas Academic Programs are evaluated regularly by student participants, program administrators, faculty advisors and external agencies for the purpose of insuring the maintenance of high academic standards.
Because Brockport Overseas Academic Programs are sponsored by an accredited US college, eligible participants may receive financial aid from federal and state sources.
Credit hours earned in Brockport Overseas Academic Programs are awarded directly by Brockport, so participants do not have to "broker" the credits earned abroad (as they frequently have to do for overseas programs which are sponsored by non-US and/or non-educational organizations).
The College at Brockport has a long history of admitting students from a wide variety of American colleges and universities to its overseas academic programs.
