Housing:
Roehampton's campus housing is allocated on a first come, first served basis. Most rooms on campus are single, a few are shared. Participants in Brockport's Applied Studies Program at Roehampton University are housed in self-catered accommodation, which is either directly on campus, or a five-minute walk away. Each College's halls of residence have basic utility rooms. There are also coffee and snack bars, students' union facilities and shops selling essentials at both the Whitelands and Roehampton Lane campuses.
Roehampton University is made up of four historic Colleges (Southlands, Digby Stuart, Frobel and Whitelands), each with its own particular traditions. In 1975, the four colleges joined together to form Roehampton University (formerly Roehampton Institute London), which today still retains a collegiate structure, but with the added advantage of many new central resources. In each of the Colleges the individual blend of people, architecture and tradition has created a truly unique atmosphere. The Colleges foster contact between staff, undergraduate and postgraduate students, and provide a social network for a wide cross-section of student society.
Each of the four colleges is of a friendly and manageable size, so that it is easy to meet people and get involved in the life of the University. The colleges are informal, stimulating places to live and study, where you'll meet people from all backgrounds with a huge range of experiences. The Colleges are all a mixture of old and new, and are housed in either new purpose-built or historic listed buildings, all with extensive gardens and grounds, and their own unique character, and all within a short walk from each other.
Orientation:
A pre-session Orientation Program, designed by the program's Resident Director to equip you to make a success of your time in Britain, is an integral part of the semester. This mandatory Orientation starts the day after the group flight arrives in London, and leads into the start of the core course the following day.
