Curriculum:
International students may enroll for study abroad programs of a minimum of one semester of study. Study abroad students can choose subjects across disciplines according to their own interests. UWS also offers a range of internationally recognized degrees in more than 100 course areas. UWS courses combine advanced academic knowledge with practical real-life training to suit a range of career needs and interests. Our Social Science courses offer you enormous choice and flexibility, allowing you to specialize or move across disciplines.
Credits:
At UWS the standard workload for one session is four subjects (40 credit points) with most subjects worth 10 credit points each. For each semester of full-time enrollment a student may expect to earn 16 US credits.
Internships Available:
UWS offers study abroad students the opportunity to undertake an unpaid internship program as part of their study abroad program. The internship, which is full supervised by UWS academic staff, offers students the opportunity to gain valuable industry experience.
The UWS internship is usually equivalent to 10 credit points (one standard unit of study) and requires approximately 210 hours in the work placement. In conjunction with the internship, students are required to study two or three academic units in order to make a full-time study load. A standard full-time study load for one session at UWS is 40 credit points, although students are eligible to study a minimum of 30 credits. Due to the workload it is recommended that students only study two units in conjunction with their internship. It is expected that students would transfer their internship experience to their home campus for credit.
UWS also offers internships to students who have undertaken previous studies in Computing and Information Technology and who are interested in a practical workplace experience in the IT Support industry in Australia.
Internship opportunities are limited and therefore placements are awarded on a competitive basis.
