University of Portsmouth

Go back to University of Portsmouth

Credits:

Participants in Brockport's University of Portsmouth program will normally earn a total of 15 credits during the spring semester and 30 during the full academic year.

For more information on the range of courses in each academic department, visit: http://www.port.ac.uk/aboutus/departments

Curriculum:

Participants may either do a full-time academic course load program or a part-time internship program with a part-time course load program.

Prior to departing for Portsmouth students participating in the part-time internship/applied studies program will select four courses (with alternate choices) from the University of Portsmouth prospectus or course catalog. They will also be required to identify three options for the type of placement they would like to pursue or be interviewed. This will provide guidance for the University of Portsmouth faculty when arranging interviews with placement sites. NOTE: Placement cannot be guaranteed or the student will not be placed until after the successful completion of the interview process. If the student is not selected or if the student decides to not select a site full-time status will be maintained by enrollment in a full regular course load.

Dependent upon the student's major and course availability, examples of courses students may take are as follows:

Accounting
American Studies
Biology
Business
Computer Science
Criminology & Criminal Justice
Earth Sciences
Economics

Pursuant to a successful interview, students pursuing coursework in the aforementioned academic areas will also be expected to participate in a 16-20 hour per week part-time internship or applied studies placement in one of the available sites in the immediate Portsmouth metropolitan area.
