NOTE: If a student wishes to apply for Visiting Student Status at Oxford University, it must be stated on initial application when applying to the Oxford University program. Visiting Student Status is a "special" designation that provides the student with extra campus privileges above and beyond those accorded to regular Brockport/Oxford students.

Housing:

About half of Oxford's students live "out of College" in the City of Oxford and it is this type of housing that participants in Brockport's Oxford Program are housed. Since Oxford University is spread over several miles throughout the city, students travel by bike or by bus to libraries, lectures, classes, the "rooms" of a tutor, or to the University's dining hall. Participants are housed within a 10-minute bus or bike ride from the center of the University. Housing is in single-occupancy rooms in houses and flats that are normally used by Oxford students. As a rule, participants will have the use of a kitchen and a sitting room or lounge. Five or six students share these houses each with their own bedroom or flats Some houses will also have a British student.

As associate members of an Oxford College's Junior Common Room, participants in the Brockport Oxford Program are always welcome to dine in the College dining hall. These meals are lower priced than in most US colleges. Participants are not required to participate in a "meal plan." All housing includes fully equipped kitchens. A high speed internet option is available and all students are given a cell phone to use while on the program with zero contract charges and free incoming calls.

Orientation:

The academic portion of the program is preceded by an on-site orientation program conducted by OPUS in Oxford. During this orientation, participants are introduced to their tutors and complete the process of developing the specific details of their tutorials. The orientation program is designed to provide participants with an introduction to Oxford, to Britain, and to the British way of life as well as to the British (and Oxford University) academic systems.
