Leeds Metropolitan University

Go back to Leeds Metropolitan University

Housing:

Students will have a number of options available when it comes to accommodations. These include self-catering residence halls, inner city accommodations, small cluster flat developments, together with houses available in the private rented sector. Once students are accepted by Brockport's Office of International Education and then by Leeds Met they will receive information from the Office of International Programmes at Leeds Met describing both university and private sector housing available through the Student Accommodation Service and Unipol Student Homes (a charitable trust supported by Leeds Met). Once students make choices with regard to housing, payments will be made through Brockport's Office of International Education. An online accommodation tracking system allows you to check the status of the accommodation application.

Orientation:

After acceptance first by Brockport's Office of International Education and then Leeds Metropolitan, before arrival in Leeds you will receive from Leeds Met welcome information that contains everything needed to know about studying and living in the UK. When you arrive in Leeds a representative of the university will meet you if you arrive at Leeds-Bradford airport, the Leeds train station, or the Leeds coach (bus) station. This is referred to as the Welcome Scheme and is offered on certain days in September and January. By participating in the welcome programme students will have the opportunity to meet other international students before beginning classes. The welcome programme includes a range of welcome events, including sports and social activities, orientation to the campus and the services provided, and opportunities to meet faculty and support staff. Other events will take place throughout the year for international students, e.g., film nights, parties, and visits to popular tourist sites to ensure students make the most of their time during their stay. Students are encouraged to join some of the many sports and social clubs and societies run the Students' Union.
